Spartacus, a Thracian slave, is trained in Rome as a gladiator. He falls in love with a beautiful slave woman Varnia. During a revolt, Spartacus and Varnia manage to escape. He forms an army of slaves to battle against the Romans. After an early victory, the slave revolt is put down and Spartacus is crucified.
